Prickly chairs is a result of the creative experience of a Mexican designer Valentina Gonzales Wohlers who has designed them based on the copy of a French oval chair originated in the Rococo period during the reign of Louis XV and has since been adopted throughout central Europe. The Nopal cactus decorations were added to it to symbolize Mexican heritage and national pride. According to legend, the Gods told the Aztecs to build now called Mexico City in the place they saw an eagle on a Nopal, eating a snake. Until today the image resides on the National Shield. The blend of these two icons allowed Valentina to create a very original pair of chairs. The cactus-inspired furniture become a new trend and is widely seen around Europe.
