Ever heard of going the extra mile? Travelodge have given a new meaning to the phrase by assembling the highest hotel room in the UK since 1916, a staggering 1344 metres up a mountain!
After teaming up with Macmillan Cancer Support to assemble a hotel room on top of Ben Nevis for charity, and raising £40,000 in the process. The challenge saw the group set off from Fort William Travelodge at 6am, before hauling a collection of hotel furnishings (including a bed!) and equipment 1344 metres up the mountain.
The idea was thought up by Paul Harvey, Managing Director, Property at Travelodge, to reward the hardworking climbers of the mountain. “Making hotel rooms available for everyone is a core part of our business, and nobody deserves a comfortable bed more than someone who has just climbed Ben Nevis”.
True to his word, the Ben Nevis Travelodge room included the luxuries of a normal hotel room. In additional to the usual Dreamer bed, complete with sheets, duvet, pillows, the team completed the look and feel of a real hotel room with walls, a picture and a comfortable chair.
Macmillan Cancer Support helps to improve the lives of people affected by cancer by providing practical, medical and financial support, and the Ben Nevis Challenge is just one of many Travelodge events taking place this year to support their work.
